
Gallup conducted a very interesting poll measuring belief in God or a higher power people who identify as conservative, liberal, and moderate. What is perhaps somewhat surprising is that only %2 of conservatives do not believe in God or a higher power. Moderates interestingly fall inbetween conservatives and liberals on every measure, but that might be expected. Looking at the liberals on this question is interesting. Only %62 (versus %89 with conservatives) believe in a God, though %24 more believe in a higher power. A full %13 of liberals do not believe in a God or higher power. The only stat that is actually surprising is the virtual nonexistence of atheists among conservatives. Make of this what you will, I merely felt a poll comparing ideology and religous belief to be interesting and should be brought to your attention.
