Ohio Voters Pass Amendment Against Individual Mandate In Health Care
From the Weekly Standard Blog:
TweetA ballot measure that StateImpact Ohio (a creation of local public media and NPR) describes as “a referendum on a constitutional amendment…aimed at keeping the national health care reform law from taking [e]ffect” won in all 88 counties in Ohio. In 81 of the counties, it won by a margin of at least 20 percentage points. Statewide, it won by 32 points (66 to 34 percent).
The measure took particular aim at Obamacare’s individual mandate, stating, “In Ohio, no law or rule shall compel, directly or indirectly, any person, employer, or health care provider to participate in a health care system.”
Voters in Ohio can’t opt out of Obamacare any more than the residents of the other 49 states can, so the measure will have no practical effect. But the message, sent in one of the three largest swing states, could hardly be clearer.
The Cleveland Plain Dealer, which calls the referendum “a strike at President Barack Obama’s health care plan,” reports, “The measure was ahead by a wide margin even in Cuyahoga County — a traditional Democratic stronghold.” With 100 percent of the precincts counted in that county — where Cleveland is located — the referendum won by 16 percentage points (58 to 42 percent).

Romney, Bachmann Blast Obama For Comments On Netanyahu
Mitt Romney criticized President Obama on Wednesday over what was meant to be a private conversation with French President Nicolas Sarkozy earlier in the week, saying it was further proof that Obama is “disdainful” of Israel.Tweet
“President Obama’s derisive remarks about Israel’s Prime Minister confirm what any observer would have gleaned from his public statements and actions toward our longstanding ally, Israel,” Romney said in a statement. “At a moment when the Jewish state is isolated and under threat, we cannot have an American president who is disdainful of our special relationship with Israel. We have here yet another reason why we need new leadership in the White House.”
The conversation between Obama and Sarkozy was accidentally caught on a live mic, according to Reuters.
"I cannot bear Netanyahu; he's a liar," Sarkozy said.
"You're fed up with him, but I have to deal with him even more often than you," Obama replied, according to the French interpreter.
Romney’s fellow GOP presidential contender Michele Bachmann demanded Obama apologize.
"I call on President Obama to immediately apologize to Prime Minister Netanyahu and I also believe that the president should demonstrate leadership and demand that the French President Sarkozy do the same," Bachmann told reporters on Tuesday.
Israel has already been a touchy topic in the campaign, with many Republican candidates critical of Obama’s support of Israel. Romney, Bachmann, and Rick Perry all criticized Obama for not taking a stronger stand over a plan by Palestinian officials to request that the United Nations Security Council grant them a sovereign state at the UN General Assembly.
Mississippi Passes Important Eminent Domain Reform Law In Measure 31
Law Professor Ilya Somin published an op ed in the Daily Caller on the passage of Mississippi referendum 31:
The Supreme Court’s 2005 decision in Kelo v. City of New London generated a record political backlash. Kelo upheld the condemnation of private property for transfer to other private owners in order to promote “economic development.” The case inspired widespread outrage. Polls show that over 80% of the public opposes economic development takings. As a result, 44 states have enacted eminent domain reform laws that restrict the condemnation of property for the benefit of private interests.
The most recent state to react to Kelo is Mississippi. On Tuesday, Mississippi voters adopted Measure 31 by a decisive 73% to 27% margin. The new law will make taking property for economic development unprofitable by forbidding most transfers of condemned land to a private party for 10 years after condemnation. The measure is a major victory for both property owners and the state’s economy.
Another Angry Anti-Semite At Occupy Wall Street In Zucotti Park
Jewish man wearing a yarmulke: I work 65 hours a week.
Protester: You probably live in the Hamptons ‘n’ some sh*t.
Jewish man: I live in the Hamptons? I live in Brooklyn…I work 62 hours a week. Do you work 62 hours?
Protester: You know what’s funny? Your people own schools and f*ckin’ government buildings, but your wives are on welfare. I don’t understand that. I don’t understand that. I met a public assistance officer. And they were Jewish, but their husbands own f*ckin’ everything.

UN Nuclear Agency IAEA: Iran "Studying" And Testing Nuclear Weapons Technology
Tweet
The UN's nuclear watchdog says it has information indicating Iran has carried out tests "relevant to the development of a nuclear explosive device".
In its latest report on Iran, the IAEA says the research includes computer models that could only be used to develop a nuclear bomb trigger.
Correspondents say this is the International Atomic Energy Agency's toughest report on Iran to date.
Tehran condemned the findings as politically motivated."The application of such studies to anything other than a nuclear explosive is unclear to the agency," the report says...
The report highlights:
- Work on fast-acting detonators that have "possible application in a nuclear explosive device, and... limited civilian and conventional military applications".
- Tests of the detonators consistent with simulating the explosion of a nuclear device
- "The acquisition of nuclear weapons development information and documentation from a clandestine nuclear supply network."
- "Work on the development of an indigenous design of a nuclear weapon including the testing of components."
The report continues: "The information indicates that prior to the end of 2003 the above activities took place under a structured programme. There are also indications that some activities relevant to the development of a nuclear explosive device continued after 2003, and that some may still be ongoing."
Pro-Life Nurses Sue New Jersey Hospital For Requiring Them To Assist In Abortions
A dozen nurses in New Jersey have filed suit against the hospital where they work because the nurses don’t want to assist during abortions.TweetThey told CBS 2’s Don Dahler what the hospital is doing is against their religion, and against the law.
Fe Vinoya of West Orange has been a nurse for 10 years. She said when her employer told her she would have to start training on how to help with abortions, she decided instead to join a lawsuit.
“As a Christian, I don’t believe in abortion. I think it’s murder,” Vinoya said.
DC Circuit Court Of Appeals Upholds Obamacare Individual Mandate
The 11th Circuit has struck it down, and the 6th and DC Circuits have upheld it. Reuters reports that the "Appeals Court for the District of Columbia Circuit upheld a lower court ruling that had found it constitutional to require Americans to buy healthcare insurance coverage by early 2014 or face a penalty and had dismissed a lawsuit challenging it":
"It certainly is an encroachment on individual liberty, but it is no more so than a command that restaurants or hotels are obliged to serve all customers regardless of race ... or that a farmer cannot grow enough wheat to support his own family," wrote Judge Laurence Silberman in the majority opinion, citing past federal mandates that inspired legal fights.Tweet

Sarkozy And Obama Grumble About Netanyahu At G20 Summit, Call Netanyahu "Liar" And Complain About Having To "Deal With Him"
Microphones accidently left on after G20 meeting pick up private conversation between US, French presidents. Sarkozy admits he 'can't stand' Israeli premier. Obama: You're fed up with him? I have to deal with him every day!
French President Nicolas Sarkozy reportedly told US President Barack Obama that he could not "stand" Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and that he thinks the Israeli premier "is a liar."
According to a Monday report in the French website "Arret sur Images," after facing reporters for a G20 press conference on Thursday, the two presidents retired to a private room, to further discuss the matters of the day.
The conversation apparently began with President Obama criticizing Sarkozy for not having warned him that France would be voting in favor of the Palestinian membership bid in UNESCO despite Washington's strong objection to the move.
The conversation then drifted to Netanyahu, at which time Sarkozy declared: "I cannot stand him. He is a liar." According to the report, Obama replied: "You're fed up with him, but I have to deal with him every day!"
The remark was naturally meant to be said in confidence, but the two leaders' microphones were accidently left on, making the would-be private comment embarrassingly public.
Yet Jewish Democrats will convince themselves that this is the response of a pro-Israel president, no doubt. Now compare this with George W. Bush's unguarded moment at a G8 summit when conversing with Tony Blair:
